Tip #1:

Most Car Shipping companies will not allow you more than 100 lbs of personal belongings in the vehicle during Auto Shippers. These belongings will have to be put in the trunk. But remember, any personal items inside the vehicle will not be covered if lost or stolen during the transport of your automobile.

Tip #2:

Your vehicle will need to be inspected with Automobile Transporters before Moving. To make the vehicle easier to inspect, please insure that the vehicle is clean. The exterior should have little to no dirt while all upholstery should be visible inside the car. The inspection of the vehicle is for your benefit. If something was to happen to the vehicle during Auto Shippers, and it was not a damage noted before transport, we at Automobile Transporters would take full responsibility. Another inspection will be administered at the destination.

Tip #3:

You must make sure that you have personal insurance on your vehicle. Most Vehicle Shipper companies will not repair damages due to normal road conditions or conditions of nature. For example, if your car was damaged while sitting on a parking lot, even if your vehicle was under the control of the Car Transporterer, your insurance would be responsible. The carrier is responsible only when the car is directly damaged by the Auto Transport company.

Tip #4:

Before Car Shipping make sure that you only have a quarter of a tank of gas. No more, no less. This is to ensure that the car has enough gas for loading and unloading by the Auto Shippers company.

Tip #5:

For most Vehicle Shipper companies there is usually an extra charge if your vehicle is inoperable, has a camper shell, is lifted, is oversized, etc. The rule of thumb in Auto Transport is that if it has anything on it that would make it harder to Transport, then you will probably be charged more for transport.

Tip #6:

The US Department of Transportation prohibits the carrying of personal items on a truck licensed only for carrying automobiles. By violating this federal law, the company transporting your vehicle can be fined up to $10,000. All personal belongings that are left inside the vehicle will not be insured and no company is responsible for missing or damaged items.

Tip #7:

Please make sure that you disable your car alarm so that it does not get triggered during Moving.

Tip #8:

Please be sure to provide a number where you can be reached at all times. This will enable the Auto Shippers company to easily contact you in case of an emergency. If the Auto Transport company cannot contact you, your car may be left at a terminal where it will accrue fees.

Tip #9:

Remember, that if moving in colder climate to make sure that you check all antifreeze and fluids in your vehicle before Transporter. This will insure that no part of the engine will be harmed during the cold starts in frigid temperatures. The Auto Transport company will usually not take responsibility for a problem that they did not directly cause.

Tip #10:

Relax, and take a deep breath. We at Automobile Transporters transport hundreds of cars every month all over the globe. If you have taken the time to complete these simple steps before Auto Shippers your vehicle will be one hundred percent ready for Auto Transport.

Here are some quick and painless tips to getting you on your way to having a successful Car Shipping experience.

Reliable Transport

In the auto transport world, it is assumed that people understand there are no guaranteed timelines. When you ask for estimated pick-up and delivery times from your car transport company, they can never give you an exact date and time until closer to your move. Without a doubt, you should be able to get a 3-day window for pick-up, but delivery is a little more challenging. The reasons for this are many; unforeseen weather and construction delays, accidents (involving them and others), tolls, potential weight issues at scales and breakdowns to name a few. All of these things can throw a wrench in your “timeline” at any point in the move; even a few miles away from the delivery of your vehicle.

If this is your first car transport, you need to understand that car shippers are typically more busy during certain seasons. Obviously late spring and summer things are quite busy and they drop off in the fall and winter. Additionally, there is what we can “snow bird” season. This is the time when retired families leave there “northern” home and go south for the winter. This season means a lot of repeat business for auto transporters that have been doing this for years and it also means they are extremely busy. During these times, the window may be larger, but the car transport company should warn you of possible delays ahead of time.

If you are promised exact dates, get it in writing and add to the contract a discount of services or a rental car (that they cover 100%) if those time lines are not satisfied. Again, GET IT IN WRITING!!! And remember, everything is negotiable! Some companies will also have a hefty cancellation fee into the contract if you decide to go with someone else, this is something else that you can possible amend up front.
